Our Curriculum at William Harding

Our curriculum is based upon the National Curriculum but is bespokely created to meet the needs of our WH pupils, it is accessible for all pupils in line with the Equality Act 2010 and Special Educational Needs and Disability Regulations 2014, for more information click here.

A subject based approach

Our curriculum is a subject based curriculum where pupils can find a passion for becoming specialists in different subjects such as Historians or Artists, growing articulation and passion for the subject.

At William Harding we want to ensure that our curriculum is not only tailored to our pupils’ interests and needs but also ensures they are ready for life in the wider world.

Our curriculum is challenging for all pupils and we follow an adaptive teaching approach so all pupils can access learning.

For more information about our subject approach please see specific website pages.

End points

This is what the curriculum is building towards and through clear planning of content components with logical progression of teaching (as detailed in our long term overviews). It shows that children build on knowledge and skills that have been taught before

Our end points are;

  • End of each unit (short term)

  • End of each year group (medium term)

  • End of each Key Stage (next stage of education)

  • End of Year 6 (final) How you can articulate the ‘end points’?

  • End of each unit – NC, LL, hot tasks, quizzes, assessment weeks, highlighting SC, pupil SA, marking

  • End of each year group (yearly overview, plus above) • End of each Key Stage – LW, Lobs, book scrutinies

  • End of Year 6 (whole school overview, NC, - (LL (NC+WH content) statements that should be met

  • Mind maps - these can be found on each year group page
